Sandeman’s pioneering way of thinking has shaped history for 200 years. Sandeman was the first company to brand a cask with an iron brand in 1805 giving the wine a name that guaranteed quality. The Sandeman brand was later registered as a trademark in 1877 (First Trademark Registrations Act) making it one of the oldest in the world.
Sandeman was also among the first wine companies to label and advertise its wines. In 1905, Sandeman started marketing actions in newspapers, followed by advertising campaigns.
Sandeman has been publishing alternative ways of consumption since 1964, from glass designs to food and wine pairing and cocktails. Sandeman Splash was first introduced in the 90’s, the cocktail with White Sandeman Porto – APITIV – and tonic water.
Sandeman also innovated the Vintage concept by creating a ready to drink Vintage Porto – VAU VINTAGE. Vau is a Vintage dated Porto (a wine from a single harvest of exceptional quality) that does not require additional ageing in the bottle. One can buy it and drink it! Vau Vintage should not be confused with the classic concept of Vintage Porto which requires years in the bottle before being smooth enough to drink.
Sandeman encourages consumers to experience why SANDEMAN IS FAMOUS FOR PLEASURE!
“As tastes and habits change, people are learning to experiment, chilling their red wine, serving white wines with meat and red wines with fish…Sandeman, too, is experiencing a renaissance as aficionados try new ways of serving it – no longer just as an aperitif or dessert wine, but as an accompaniment to haute cuisine (…)” George Sandeman.
